Earthing & Air Travel

While travelling to the USA we wanted to see if the Auto Mats would help with the large amount of static electrical buildup that we all we receive while travelling in vehicles and disconnected from the natural earth.  We connected the mat to a piece of exposed metal with an alligator clip as you would with the vehicle pad on the seat in front of us and you could do the same thing with the band, patch, etc., if you didn't have a mat.  This sort of grounding is not the same as using the Earthing Sheets or Universal Mats as we have no natural ground/earth to connect to, however, the metal chassis of the plane becomes the common ground - which reduces the effects of electrical stress on our bodies by keeping our static electrical voltage stable.  We didn't sit on the mat but rather put it on the hand rest and both of us used during the flight.  As there were large metal bolts exposed on floor on the seat in front of us we also placed our bare feet on these at times which would do the same thing and ground us to the chassis of the plane.  Its hard to say how effective it was but both my husband and myself enjoyed the flight and did not get agitated, stressed or restless and we suffered no swelling of our feet, hands or legs.   I was not going to use the auto mats on the way home to see the difference, however, I just didn't want to take the chance of a restless 14 hours and feeling agitated on our arrival.

If you travel on a plane freqently using the auto mat may help with your static buildup and keep your body stable.  Don't forget to slip your shoes off and look for a piece of bare metal in the way of a bar or bolt that you can place your bare feet on and it will do the same thing.

Experiment next time you go flying and lets us know the outcome.
